About Dr Umar
I am an NHS doctor, university medical school tutor and OSCE examiner with over 8 years of tutoring experience. I’m also involved in medical education, including curriculum design, pilot teaching programmes and student assessment.
I support both current medical students and aspiring medical students. For medical students, I offer focused tuition in OSCEs, clinical examinations, history taking, communication skills, case presentations, clinical reasoning, written exams and confidence on the wards. As an examiner and teacher, I understand what assessors are looking for, where students commonly lose marks and how to develop a clear, repeatable approach under exam pressure.
For applicants, I also provide medical school interview and admissions preparation. I have experience working on interview panels and can help with MMI preparation, communication stations, ethical scenarios, motivation for medicine, NHS topics, personal statement discussion and developing strong, natural answers without sounding scripted.
My lessons are practical, interactive and tailored to your goals. We identify weak areas, practise realistic scenarios and build a strategy that helps you perform confidently in both interviews and medical school examinations. Whether you are trying to secure a place at medical school, prepare for finals or improve your clinical confidence, each session is designed around getting you measurable progress.

My sessions are designed to make medicine feel structured, manageable and much less overwhelming. Rather than simply going through slides or giving you information to memorise, I focus on how to actually think through questions, approach clinical scenarios and perform confidently when it matters.
For OSCEs, we can run realistic stations together, practise timing, sharpen your communication and clinical reasoning, and work on the small details that often separate an average performance from a strong one. I give clear, specific feedback so you know exactly what to improve before the next attempt.
For written exams and clinical medicine, I break difficult topics down into simple frameworks and help you understand the reasoning behind investigations, differentials and management rather than relying on rote learning.
If you are applying to medical school, sessions can be run in a realistic interview style, with challenging MMI questions, follow-up probing and detailed feedback on how to make your answers more confident, natural and memorable.
