Q: If sin¢=5/13, find the value of cos¢ ÷ tan¢.
Answer: The first thing you do is to draw the triangle.
The third side of the triangle is obtained using Pythagoras theorem
Let the third side be k
K squared =
=13squared - 5squared
=169-25 =144
Then k=√144 =12
From SOHCAHTOA,
cos¢= 12/13 and tan¢= 5/12
Then cos¢ ÷ tan¢ =
12/13 ÷ 5/12
12/13 × 12/5 (To divide fractions, you have to invert the second fraction)
Answer= 144/65
= 2.22
