About Natalia

Let me introduce myself!

My name is Natalia, I am from Argentina, I lived in Spain for 4 years and now I live in Edinburgh. For me to teach Spanish is to unlock a door to show an extraordinary range of cultures and knowledge. I have a genuine passion for teaching and guiding others to discover the Spanish language.

My other interests are literature (I love reading Latin American and Spanish writers!), dancing, walking and going out with friends. I love listening to podcasts about different topics such as technology, history and feminism. I am always looking to learn about different ways of thinking about society and culture.

About the lesson

In my classes the main thing is that you feel comfortable to speak, make mistakes and ask as many questions as you want. I adopt the communicative method which is based on using practical and functional language for real speaking situations. We will review the grammar and structures of the Spanish language but always prioritising communication over learning the rules by heart.

The first thing we are going to do is to have a conversation to find out what your objectives are. This way we can put together a learning plan according to your needs. I encourage total immersion as a working method, which means that we will speak Spanish from the very first moment. But don't be scared! Everyone has their own pace when it comes to learning and if you need to tell me something in English, you can do that too.

After knowing your goals and making a work plan, what is important for me to know is your interests, hobbies, etc. so that I can tailor classes that are attractive to you. This way we can have more enjoyable and motivating classes.

I have always studied grammar and literature as an autodidact. For this reason I have applied for certification as a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language.

My teaching experience began years ago in secondary schools teaching literature and grammar. I have taught children from 11 years old to adults. Since I have travelled and lived in another country my teaching vocation has led me today to focus on teaching my native language as a second language. I must
confess that I find this teaching experience fascinating.
