About Anastasia

I’m Anastasia, a native Russian speaker from Moscow and a qualified teacher of Russian as a foreign language. I hold a 350-hour professional retraining diploma in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language, with specialized training in RFL teaching methodology. I also hold a 620-hour professional retraining diploma as an English Language Teacher.

I work with adults and teenagers at all levels and teach students with very different goals, from everyday communication and relocation to university, work and TORFL/TRKI preparation. I prepare the learning plan and materials around each student’s goals, interests and current level.

About the lesson

We start by defining your goals and assessing your current level. Based on that, I create a learning plan built around your goals and interests and aligned with the State Standards for Russian as a Foreign Language and the requirements for your proficiency level. We then follow this plan and adjust it as you progress.

Speaking is part of the course from the first lessons. When we learn new grammar or vocabulary, we use it in examples and then practice it in conversation. If needed, I explain grammar in English first and then we work with it in Russian.

A typical lesson includes reviewing what we have already covered, working with new language and practicing it through speaking and other activities.

Each student has their own interactive learning board with all lesson materials, exercises and useful information. You can return to everything we have done at any time. I also use Quizlet for vocabulary, so new words are easy to review between lessons.

I create my own games and interactive simulations. In a simulation, you may need to understand something, choose what to say or respond in Russian. Your choice affects what happens next. This gives you a chance to practice Russian in situations similar to ones you may encounter outside the lesson.

We also regularly review your progress. For me, progress is not just a list of topics we have completed. We look at what you can actually do in Russian. This helps us see what is already working and what we need to practice next to move closer to your goal.

My lessons are for adults and teenagers at all levels. Students come to me for different reasons, including everyday communication, relocation, university, work, communication with Russian-speaking family and friends, and TORFL/TRKI preparation.
