Rase has been teaching my 14 years old son every week for 2 months. He wanted to learn mandarin in a fun way. Rase makes him laugh. She is funny, but serious at the same time, so he learns a lot. She perfectly met my son's expectations (and mine). He can practice his writing between classes if he wants but does not feel pressured to do homework (it is extracurricular, so I didn't want to increase his burden with schoolwork). He doesn't feel like she is disappointed if he didn't practice, but he feels that she is proud of him when he does. She is very encouraging. Rase was my Mandarin teacher for over ten years, starting when I was around six years old. We had class once or twice a week during the school year, and over the years her professionalism and perseverence became my greatest motivation to continue studying the language. Her attention to detail enabled me to master the more technical aspects of the language, such as tones and stroke order, and her abilities as a conversationalist helped me to practice my spoken Mandarin in a way no textbook could ever replicate. Now that I've begun university, I've had to stop taking regular lessons, and she has turned to SuperProf to look for new students.
