Native Mandarin speaker from China teaches practical Chinese for beginners, school students and adults in Perth

I’ve known Owen since high school, and we actually lived together in boarding, so I’ve known him for a pretty long time. He’s always been really easy to get along with, patient, and good at explaining things without making them sound complicated.
Since he grew up in Beijing, Mandarin is obviously very natural for him, but what makes him good at helping others is that he also understands English really well. I’ve asked him plenty of times about Chinese words, slang, or things I didn’t understand, and he always explains them in a way that actually makes sense.
He’s also really into Chinese music, food and culture, so I think his lessons would be pretty fun and relaxed rather than feeling like a super formal classroom.
I’d definitely recommend Owen if you want to learn Mandarin with someone who’s friendly, easy to talk to and can teach you how Chinese is actually used in real life.

I met Owen at uni through going to the gym together, and we ended up becoming good friends from training, hanging out and cooking together.
He’s really easy to talk to, patient, and naturally good at explaining things. Since he grew up in Beijing, his Mandarin is obviously very strong, but he’s also good at explaining Chinese in English, especially things like slang, pronunciation and expressions that don’t translate directly.
