About Daisy
Hi! I’m a native Mandarin and Hokkien speaker from China, now based in Sydney.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature, so my background in Chinese goes beyond being a native speaker. My university studies gave me a strong foundation in Chinese language, literature, writing and culture.
I have experience teaching Chinese to international students in China and helping English-speaking learners develop their Mandarin in Australia. I previously helped an Australian student improve his conversational Chinese and successfully prepare for a study program in Taiwan.
I speak fluent English and have lived and worked in Australia for many years. This allows me to explain Chinese clearly from an English speaker’s perspective and, importantly, to understand where learners often get stuck when moving between the two languages.
I also hold a Master’s degree in Psychology and have experience working with children and adolescents in both counseling and educational settings. This has given me a strong understanding of different personalities, learning styles and the importance of building confidence in the learning process.
I enjoy helping people discover that Chinese can be both fascinating and practical, and I tailor my teaching to each learner rather than using the same approach for everyone.

My lessons are practical, personalized and designed around your goals, interests and current level.
For adult learners, I focus particularly on helping you build confidence in real-life Mandarin communication. Whether you are learning Chinese for travel, work, study, family connections, or simply out of interest, we can tailor the lessons to what you actually want to achieve.
Depending on your level and goals, lessons may include:
* Everyday conversation and speaking practice
* Pronunciation, tones and Pinyin
* Practical vocabulary and sentence structures
* Mandarin for travel, work or study
* Reading and writing
* Chinese culture and natural, everyday expressions
Complete beginners are very welcome. I speak fluent English, so concepts can be explained clearly in English when needed, while gradually introducing more Mandarin as your confidence grows.
For children and teenagers, lessons are adapted to their age, interests, personality and learning needs. I aim to create a supportive and engaging environment where young learners feel comfortable speaking, asking questions and making mistakes.
I also offer conversational Hokkien for learners who are interested in the language.
Lessons are suitable for both adults and young learners, from complete beginners to intermediate level.
