About the lesson

Hi! I’m Silvia, a native Italian speaker with a PhD in Italian Studies and over 20 years of international experience in education.

My professional career has taken me across different countries and educational systems. I taught Italian language, literature and culture at the University of Zurich and worked as a lecturer in Italian Language and Culture at Xiamen University in China. In Zurich, I have also taught Italian for many years at language schools, including Roth Language Atelier and Migros Klubschule.

I currently work at International School Zurich Nord, where, among other responsibilities, I prepare students for the Cambridge IGCSE Italian examination. I am also a PLIDA-certified Italian teacher and have experience as an external Italian language examiner in Swiss schools.

Throughout my career, I have worked with children, teenagers, adults, university students and professionals from a wide range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

For me, learning a language is about much more than grammar and vocabulary. With my academic background in literature and my experience as an author, I can bring Italian culture, literature, history and creative writing into my lessons, depending on each student’s interests and level.

I am a native Italian speaker, fluent in English and highly proficient in German, which allows me to work effectively with international learners.

My teaching is professional, personalised and tailored to your individual goals. Whether you are learning Italian for work, preparing for an exam, studying at university, planning a trip, or simply learning out of a passion for Italy, I would be delighted to support you on your journey.
