Hello and welcome!
My name is Ugochi Promise Onyekwe, and I am a passionate Igbo language teacher from Nigeria. Igbo is a language and culture that I deeply value, and I enjoy helping people discover its beauty in a simple, practical, and enjoyable way.
As your tutor, I want you to feel comfortable learning, asking questions, making mistakes, and improving at your own pace. I believe that learning a language should not feel intimidating—it should be an opportunity to communicate, connect with people, and understand a different culture.
My teaching approach focuses on real-life communication, pronunciation, everyday vocabulary, conversations, grammar, and Igbo culture. I will adapt our lessons to your level and your personal goals, whether you are a complete beginner, learning Igbo for family connections, traveling to Nigeria, reconnecting with your heritage, or simply interested in learning a new language.
I don't want you to only memorize Igbo words. I want you to understand them, pronounce them confidently, and use them naturally in conversation.

About the lesson

My approach is simple: learn Igbo naturally, practically, and confidently. I will guide you step by step, starting from everyday words and expressions that you can immediately use in real conversations. In my lesson, We will focus on speaking, pronunciation, vocabulary, culture and practice. I believe you don't have to be perfect before you start speaking Igbo. Mistakes are part of learning. My job is to create a friendly environment where you feel comfortable trying, practicing, and improving.
