About Maria

Hi, I’m Maria, a native German speaker from Germany currently living in Canada.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies with a focus on social and cultural theory and a minor in Political Science. I also studied International Administration Management, with a focus on marketing and Spanish.

Throughout my studies and professional career, I have worked in cultural projects, events, communications, administration and hospitality. I have experience working with people from many different countries and backgrounds, and I particularly enjoy creating connections across cultures.

I speak German, English and Spanish fluently and also have intermediate French. Having learned and used several languages myself, I understand the challenges that come with learning a new language and the importance of feeling comfortable enough to actually use it.

I’m friendly, patient and open-minded, and I want my lessons to feel like a space where you can ask questions, make mistakes and gradually build confidence. Whether you are learning German for your everyday life, a trip, work, university or simply because you love languages, I would be happy to help you along the way.

About the lesson

I am a native German speaker offering personalized online German lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners. My goal is to make German practical, understandable and enjoyable, whether you want to improve your everyday conversation, prepare for travel, work or studies, or simply become more confident speaking German.

My teaching approach:
I adapt every lesson to the your personal level, interests and goals. Rather than relying only on textbooks and grammar exercises, I combine conversation, vocabulary, grammar and real-life situations. I believe that making mistakes is an important part of learning, so I create a relaxed environment where you can practice speaking without pressure.

As someone who speaks German, English and Spanish fluently, I can also explain German grammar and vocabulary through English or Spanish when that makes things easier to understand.

A typical lesson:
We usually begin with a short conversation or review of the previous lesson. After, we focus on a specific topic, grammar point or vocabulary area, followed by practical exercises and conversation. Depending on your goals, we might work with everyday situations, role plays, texts, pronunciation or free conversation. We finish by reviewing the most important points and identifying what to practice before the next lesson.

What sets me apart:
I have an international background and experience living and working in different cultural environments. This allows me to teach not only the language but also the cultural context behind how German is actually spoken and used. I focus on helping students communicate naturally rather than simply memorize rules.

My lessons are suitable for complete beginners as well as students who already speak German and want to improve their fluency, vocabulary, pronunciation or confidence.
