About Bertille

Bonjour! I'm Bertille, a native French speaker with a Master's degree in Political Science and a Bachelor's in Sociology, and a strong background in French literature. I've been teaching French since 2016, to students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to advanced speakers who want to refine their fluency.
Whether you're learning French for travel, work, family, or school, my goal is the same: to get you speaking real, confident French, not just memorising rules. I also offer structured preparation for exams such as GCSE, A-Level and DELF/DALF, and I can support students in social sciences (essays, homework, exam revision).
Lessons are available online, in French or English depending on your level. The first lesson is free: it's the best way to see if we're a good match!

About the lesson

Every student is different, so every course I build is different. Our first (free) lesson is a relaxed assessment: we talk about your goals, your level, and what has or hasn't worked for you before. From there, I will create a personalised programme.
I prefer intuitive, practical methods over rigid textbook lessons: conversation on topics you actually care about and real-life materials, with grammar and writing introduced naturally when you need them. For exam candidates (GCSE, A-Level, DELF/DALF), we work with past papers, timed practice and targeted feedback on the exact skills examiners look for.
You'll get regular feedback on your progress, and optional short exercises between lessons if you want to move faster. My students stay because lessons are effective - and because they're enjoyable.

Perfect! Bertille is very patient and explains things well whatever our starting level. I had problems with some grammar and spelling rules and by the end of the session I felt more confident in my French. I can't imagine the level I could reach after several sessions with her as I felt so much better after our first session.
