About Barbara

I hold a professional degree in dance teaching from accredited French and American institutions, where I trained not only as a performer but as an educator. This background gave me a strong foundation in pedagogy, lesson structure, and working with students of all ages and levels.

I graduated high school in France with highest honors (mention Très Bien au Bac), so you can trust that the French I teach is accurate, rich, and rooted in a solid academic background.

I have tutoring experience working with younger students on homework and school assignments, and I'm comfortable adapting to different curriculums and learning objectives.

Above all, I'm patient, gentle, and adaptable. I believe that a good learning environment starts with trust and kindness, and I make it a priority to ensure every student feels comfortable, supported, and confident throughout our work together.

About the lesson

My approach is simple: I adapt to you.

Every student learns differently, and my background as a trained dance teacher has taught me exactly that. Pedagogy, patience, and observation are at the heart of how I teach. I take the time to understand where you are and what you need before diving in. And I change and adapt my method class after class if needed.

As a native speaker, I've been through every stage of the language myself (from the very basics to full fluency) so I know exactly what the journey looks like and how to guide you through it. Living now in New York, I also know firsthand how challenging it can be to learn a new language, get used to a new accent, and navigate a whole new set of rules. It's not easy, and that's okay. My lessons are a no-judgment zone. I've been where you are, and that's exactly why I'm patient, encouraging, and genuinely rooting for you.

A typical lesson with me might include:
• some conversation to get comfortable speaking French naturally
• Grammar or vocabulary work based on your current level or goals
• Reading or writing exercises if that's where you want to grow
• Real-life materials to make the language feel alive

Whether you're a complete beginner, a student looking for homework help, or someone who just wants to gain confidence in conversation, I'll meet you where you are, and we'll build from there!
