About Kristen

I'm fully Certified to teach English as a foreign language. I received my TQUK level 5 Certification (RQF). I am also certified in: Teaching Business English Course, IELTS preparation course, Teaching Young Learners Course, and Teaching English Online Course. I received and completed my coursework from TEFL.ie. I also have a BA in Theater Arts. I am a dual citizen with Ireland and born and raised in Rhode Island, USA. I have an American accent and am fluent in English. Prior to homeschooling my children, I worked as a special educator, as well as a preschool teacher. I love teaching and coaching. I'm passionate about helping people of all ages build confidence, find their own strengths, and achieve their dreams, goals, and desires. I have a compassionate approach and a good sense of humor. I have worked with all ages and abilities and am respectful and creative. I want to put my students at ease, so they can be comfortable learning, exploring, and trying new and sometimes challenging things. I love connecting with people and supporting their dreams.

About the lesson

Learn English in a fun, supportive, and stress-free class. I am a supportive teacher who will help you build your skills and confidence. I create a relaxed environment where learners are comfortable to take on new challenges and achieve their learning goals. Learning and improving English is best done by practicing. What better way than with a native English speaker? Through conversation, we can learn so much in our time together. What we cover will be based on your individual needs. I will give gentle, constructive feedback. Since all my classes are created to meet students' personal and individual needs and goals, I will design the lessons entirely for you in order for you to achieve your desired outcomes. Depending on your skill level in English, you will have your own goals that I will support and help you achieve. For example, some of your goals might be: Accent reduction, pronunciation, listening, articulation, or pacing. We can do all that and more. You might want to practice having conversations to become more fluent in listening and talking. You might want to practice specific types of interactions. For example, making phone calls, preparing for job or school interviews. You may want to work on fluency or need help understanding fast native speech. You may be interested in becoming proficient in reading comprehension and pronunciation. We can work on practicing reading aloud and focus on listening skills for some of the more challenging sounds, while also practicing articulation of these words. We can work on skills such as expanding your vocabulary, common phrases, demystifying idioms, and cultural "norms." We will work at your own pace. No matter what level you are, or what your goals may be, I'm able to help and support you wholeheartedly. Together, we will give you the skills and confidence you desire for yourself going forward. If you want to work on your communication skills and fluency in English, I will help you do that in a fun and supportive environment. We’ll enjoy our hour talking and laughing and learning together. I create a positive, fun, and supportive learning environment. I"m flexible, accommodating, and patient and truly love tutoring and coaching. I'm available to work with students from different time zones/country.
