About Joe
I have just graduated from Gonville & Caius College, University of Cambridge, with a degree in Mathematics.
Prior to and during my degree, I was a maths tutor for a number of students. This included guiding one student through their Maths GCSE and another in A level Maths and Maths university admissions (interview and MAT).
I am very keen to tutor A level Maths and students who are preparing for university admissions and entrance exams. I have strong knowledge of A level Maths syllabus, and good expertise in how to stretch high-achieving students. My experience of the admissions process for Cambridge, as well as being employed by my College to assist in running the interviews for prospective students in 2019, has given me an acute understanding of the admissions process. This has enabled me as a tutor to focus on the particular traits that top level universities are looking for.

My tutoring approach is to introduce new ideas through worked problems, and then practise the ideas before applying them in unseen contexts. I generally find that the best way to teach is to ensure the student has a strong understanding of the ’story’ behind the mathematics through worked examples, before cementing that understanding and process together through practice questions. I have proven results of helping students improve their confidence, skills and ability to tackle challenging problems independently.
