About Silvia

Hello, I'm Silvia! I'm a Vocal Coach and singer/songwriter. My main instruments, apart from my voice, are bass, piano and classical flute. I was raised in Italy, now based in London. I come from a musical family, always surrounded by singers, and I have started playing instruments when I was 11. As opposed to most singers, though, I have started my singing journey very late in my teenage years, when I was 17, because I was really shy and had lots of self-doubts. On my first year at the Institute, I won the scholarship in Singing, and after another year, I got offered to study in a Music University in London (ICMP) and moved here when I was 19. I have now graduated in BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance specialising in Vocals.

About the lesson

I am passionate about Music Theory and how intelligently a person can arrange chords and chord progressions to create their own songs or to understand better the thought behind already written songs. I started studying Music Theory and read music since I was 11 with my first instrument, the classical flute, and then improved my techniques with other instruments (Voice, Keyboard, Bass). I graduated in 2023 in BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance (Vocals). For me, Music Theory is a tool that one can use to understand better music and to explore different colours that you might not normally hear with songs on the radio. My goal for my students is to make Music Theory as simple as possible for them to understand and to use it to create and experiment, explore themselves and their art. Remember, learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist!

I started singing lessons with Silvia to help me with building confidence and figuring out what my voice can and can’t do. I had never sang in public and couldn’t even fathom the thought of doing so.

I suffer from quite severe stage fright and I didn’t think I would be able to sing in front of a teacher, but after an initial video call with Silvia, I felt so comfortable chatting to her! I knew straight away that, if I was going to be able to sing in front of anyone, it was going to be her.

After just a few lessons, I no longer felt silly or embarrassed when doing vocal exercises or singing in front of Silvia. Not only this, but I sang in public and loved it! I really don’t think I would have been able to take that step had I been taking lessons with another singing teacher. Silvia is so kind, patient, encouraging and talented and I am grateful to her every day for not only being an incredible singing teacher, but also a truly wonderful person.
