About Olivia
I’m a passionate and dedicated pre-service teacher currently studying a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in English and Special Education. I’ve always loved the power of storytelling and the way literature can open minds, spark empathy, and help us better understand the world around us. Working in a secondary school as a Learning Support Assistant has strengthened my desire to teach and shown me how meaningful it is to support students in their academic journey. I aim to create a learning environment where students feel encouraged, challenged, and confident to express their ideas. Teaching isn’t just a career goal for me - it’s something I genuinely care about and feel inspired to do every day.

My approach to tutoring Literature is student-centred, encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and confidence. I break down complex texts and themes into manageable parts, using guided discussion, close reading, visual aids, and scaffolded essay planning to help students deepen their understanding. I tailor each session to the student’s goals - whether it’s improving analytical writing, preparing for SACs or exams, or simply developing a love for literature.
A typical lesson runs for 60 minutes and includes a mix of discussion, text analysis, writing practice, and personalised feedback. I also incorporate strategies to help students stay engaged, such as thought-provoking questions, connections to real-world contexts, and encouragement to form and express their own interpretations.
I am currently completing a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in English and Special Education, and I work in a secondary school as a Learning Support Assistant with Year 7-12 students. This has given me firsthand experience supporting a range of learning needs and abilities.
My lessons are best suited for secondary students in Years 9–12 who want to strengthen their literature skills, improve their confidence in English, or prepare for VCE assessments.

We had a great experience with Olivia. My son was having a tough time understanding ‘Twelfth Night’ for his English assessment. She really helped him break down the text and he went from being totally confused to actually enjoying it. Definitely recommend Olivia if your kid needs help with English, especially Shakespeare!
