About Dawa
There's a saying that we fear what we don't understand. Many students find math intimidating because they didn't understand fundamental Math concepts somewhere along the way and this lack of knowledge carried with them as they graduated to higher grade levels. I am here to build their confidence, fill the knowledge gaps and equip them with problem-solving skills. I have more than 7 years of experience as a Math teacher and it has allowed me to meet the needs of students whose ages range from Kindergarten through college. I help students learn through methods like the first principle thinking and the Socratic method. Math teacher for grades 6-8 at La Scuola D' Italia, a private school in Manhattan, adept in student motivation, test administering and proctoring, progress reporting, needs assessment, and visually engaging educational techniques. Worked closely with children from K-12 in a one-to-one setting as a Math teacher and co-manager at Mathnasium of Astoria for four years, providing the individualized support and praise they require. Taught approximately 20 high school students for Algebra 2 and Geometry Regents Preparation. I also completed CUNY's Dosage tracker biweekly for research purposes in order to improve teaching strategies for students. Taught Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus courses to high school and college students and also helped them with SAT, ACT, Regents exam, and Advanced Placement exam preparation.

I would have a chat with the student as well as the parents to understand, assess and identify the student's strengths, areas of improvement, goals, time frame, and learning style. Then, from there we would jump right into mastering the fundamentals and problem-solving. I also make sure to stay connected with family members, caregivers, and any specialists involved.
I teach Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus courses and help students with SHSAT, SAT, ACT, Regents exam, Advanced Placement exam, and TACHS exam preparation.
My years of experience have taught me the value of patience, encouragement, and emotional intelligence to empower students and help them master the math skills and concepts to go on to college and everyday life beyond high school.
