About Garrett

Hi, I’m Garrett—a dedicated tutor with a strong academic background in mathematics, physics, and computer science. I’ve conducted undergraduate research in graph theory and knot theory, and I’m currently preparing for graduate studies in mathematics. My passion lies in helping others develop a deep, intuitive understanding of complex ideas. I believe that learning should be engaging, empowering, and tailored to the individual. Whether you're struggling with high school calculus or exploring university-level physics or programming, I bring patience, clarity, and structure to every session. I take my role as an educator seriously and work hard to ensure that every student leaves feeling more confident and capable. Professionalism, punctuality, and personalized instruction are at the core of my teaching. I’m here not just to help you pass your classes, but to truly understand the material and enjoy the process of learning. Let’s unlock your potential—together.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach centers around clarity, curiosity, and critical thinking. I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs, focusing not just on solving problems but on deeply understanding the underlying concepts. I believe in fostering intuition—whether it’s in mathematics, physics, or computer science—so that students don’t just memorize formulas, but actually see why things work the way they do.
Teaching Method & Techniques:

I use a mix of active problem-solving, visual explanations, and Socratic questioning. I guide students to discover answers themselves while offering clear, structured guidance. When appropriate, I integrate simple proofs, real-world applications, and even historical context to make the material more engaging and meaningful.

Typical Lesson Plan:
5–10 minutes: Brief review and discussion of previous material or homework
30–40 minutes: Core lesson with worked examples, concept breakdowns, and interactive questioning
10–15 minutes: Student-led problem-solving with guidance and feedback
End of session: Summary of key takeaways and personalized study tips or follow-up work

I also adapt lessons based on how the student responds—some learn best with diagrams, others with analogies or hands-on coding/math problems.

What Sets Me Apart:
I bring a deep interdisciplinary understanding from my background in mathematics, physics, and computer science, along with experience in undergraduate research in graph theory and knot theory. My sessions are intellectually rich but never intimidating—I focus on building confidence and curiosity in students.

I’m also passionate about helping students develop independent learning strategies, so they can eventually teach themselves and excel beyond tutoring.

Who the Lessons Are For:
High school: Algebra, calculus, physics, computer science (AP and beyond)
University level: Introductory to intermediate math, theoretical CS, mechanics, and problem-solving
Self-learners: Students preparing for competitions, independent study, or early college-level material

Whether you're trying to catch up, get ahead, or explore subjects more deeply, I’ll meet you where you are and help you grow.
