About Rayyan Teh

Most students struggle in competitions like Kangaroo, SASMO or IMONST not because they lack calculation skills, but because they lack heuristics (problem-solving strategies). My classes do not focus on drilling textbook questions. Instead, I teach the "Hidden Tools" of mathematics:
Pattern Recognition: How to solve the last few digits of 2027^2027 in seconds by finding the cycle, rather than using a calculator.
Visual Modelling: Using the "Model Method" and "Pigeonhole Principle" to solve complex logic puzzles without confusing algebra.
The "Working Backwards" Technique: A critical skill for the High Difficulty problems found in Olympiad papers.
How a Typical Class Works (1 hour)
I recommend a 1-hour session to ensure deep understanding without burnout:
The "Hook" (15 mins): We start with a brain-teaser or logic puzzle to activate critical thinking.
Concept Mastery (30 mins): I introduce a specific module (e.g., Number Theory, Modular Arithmetic, or Spatial Logic). Immediately, we apply the concept to real past-year questions from Kangaroo/IMONST, focusing on the hardest questions.
Debrief (15 mins): We review why a method worked, ensuring the student can replicate the logic in a new scenario.
Who Are My Lessons For?
Primary (Year 4-6): Students preparing for the Benjamin category in Kangaroo Math or SASMO. This is the "Golden Age" to build a foundation in logical reasoning.
Lower Secondary (Form 1-3): Students aiming for the Cadet category or bridging the gap to IMONST (National Selection).
Upper Secondary (Form 4-6): Students aiming for the Student/Senior category or bridging the gap to IMONST (National Selection).
My classes are best suited for students who are already comfortable with school math and are looking for an intellectual challenge (aiming for Bronze, Silver, or Gold medals).
