About Mike

I'm a mathematician and experienced educator with a Master's degree in Mathematics from McMaster University and over six years of college-level teaching experience. I've instructed hundreds of students at Mohawk College and Humber College in courses ranging from statistics and probability to financial mathematics and calculus — and I know firsthand what it takes to make abstract mathematical ideas accessible and stick.

Beyond the classroom, I've tutored students one-on-one for years across a wide range of levels, from elementary math all the way through senior secondary physics. I genuinely enjoy the process of finding the right explanation for each student — the one that makes things click — and I take real satisfaction in watching students grow in both ability and confidence.

I'm patient, organized, and committed to making every session productive. Whether a student comes to me frustrated and behind, or motivated and looking to excel, I adapt my approach to meet them where they are.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student's needs, pace, and curriculum. Whether you're in Grade 5 building foundational number sense or a Grade 12 student preparing for a calculus or physics exam, I meet you where you are and work toward where you need to be.

A typical session begins with a quick review of recent material to identify gaps, followed by targeted instruction on new concepts, and then guided practice with real problems. I emphasize understanding over memorization — I want students to be able to think through problems they've never seen before, not just replicate steps.

With a Master's degree in Mathematics from McMaster University and over six years teaching statistics, calculus, and quantitative methods at Mohawk and Humber College, I bring a level of subject depth that goes well beyond the high school curriculum. This means I can anticipate where students get stuck and explain concepts from multiple angles until one clicks.

My lessons are for students from Grade 5 through Grade 12 in math, including AP Calculus, and Grade 9 through Grade 12 in physics. Whether you're struggling to keep up, looking to get ahead, or aiming for a top mark, I'm here to help you get there.
