About Rupeshika

I’m Rupeshika, an experienced and dedicated English language tutor with a passion for helping learners succeed. I hold a BA (Hons) in Teaching English as a Second Language and am currently completing my Master of Education at the University of Auckland. I’ve taught English at university level in Sri Lanka as an Assistant Lecturer and now support school students from across New Zealand to improve their English skills and confidence. My goal is to make English learning enjoyable, practical, and empowering for every student. Teaching is more than a job for me—it’s something I truly care about. I love seeing my students grow, overcome challenges, and discover their voice in a new language. As someone who has worked with learners from diverse language backgrounds, I understand the importance of patience, empathy, and culturally responsive teaching. Outside the classroom, I’m also a tennis player and a children’s illustrator, which brings creativity, balance, and energy into my lessons. I believe learning should be meaningful and engaging—and I’m here to guide and support you every step of the way. Whether you're just starting your English journey or aiming to improve specific skills, I look forward to helping you reach your goals with professionalism, care, and a personalized approach.

About the lesson

As an English language tutor, my approach is student-centered, supportive, and highly adaptable. I believe that every learner is different, so I design customised lessons based on each student’s language level, goals, and learning style. My focus is on helping learners gain confidence and practical skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

I use a mix of interactive techniques such as guided conversations, reading and writing tasks, vocabulary games, pronunciation practice, and grammar support. I also incorporate real-life scenarios, visuals, and technology to keep lessons engaging and relevant. I create a safe and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions—because that’s how real learning happens!

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, but I can adjust the time depending on the student’s needs and attention span, especially for younger learners.

I hold a BA (Hons) in Teaching English as a Second Language and am currently studying for a Master of Education at the University of Auckland. I have experience working as an Assistant Lecturer in English at a leading state university in Sri Lanka and currently tutor school students across New Zealand.

My lessons are suitable for learners of all ages and levels—from beginners to more advanced students, including school-aged children, teenagers, and adults.
