About Laura

I work part-time at Cardiff University teaching Academic English. Since 2005 I have taught in various countries, including Italy, Serbia, Malta and Sri Lanka but returned a few years ago to my native city, Cardiff. I have taught English for Academic Purposes, IELTS preparation, Medical English, and General English in Cardiff & Malta University. I have also taught extensively online, as well as in state high schools, private schools, and workplaces.

About the lesson

The teaching methodology is based on a communicative approach. I specialise in exam preparation (IELTS and Cambridge exams mostly) and I can help you to achieve your goals by using a mixture of all skills - reading, writing, speaking, listening, and setting up appropriate homework tasks. We will work together to explore your specific, individual needs. I like to use memorable activities that encourage students to be active and confident in their learning, and you will always receive constructive feedback on your written or spoken tasks. I am a professional and dedicated educator and strive to deliver enjoyable, effective lessons. I have over 15 years of experience teaching and am passionate about my work. I have helped learners to succeed in exams, interviews, and public speeches and overcome obstacles to learning. Testimonies from previous students can be provided. I am only available to teach online. Depending on the circumstances and the number of students, rates are negotiable.

She took time to get to know her students' personalities and what they liked, wanted and needed. Everyone liked and respected her and she helped her students achieve excellent results!!

I worked with Laura for a number of years in Edinburgh. She is an excellent team member, efficient and highly adaptable. I collaborated with her on a number of successful teaching projects. She was respected and loved by all her students. Her holistic approach to group dynamics and individual learning styles made her the choice of many that came to our school. Given the chance, I would jump at the chance to work with Laura again. I cannot recommend her more, to students and fellow teachers.

Jamie - EAC, Edinburgh College, British Council Milan & Rome, Strathclyde University.
