About Samuel

I am the 2nd-ranked junior player in the city of Edmonton, with many top finishes in national events, along with being the official representative in the U-18 section at the World Youth Chess Championships 2023. My peak CFC rating is 2204, and my live FIDE peak was over 2000. Currently, I am working towards my 2nd and 3rd NM norms to achieve the NM title, which I'm quickly closing in on. Along with lots of playing experience, I am also a passionate organizer and director of tournaments in the city. I have been the director of about half the events these days in Edmonton, and in 2024, I took on the steep task of organizing the Edmonton International, a tournament that featured many strong players, some flying to Edmonton from Europe. I am also a board member for the Alberta Chess Association and the University of Alberta Chess Club. I have a great passion for the game, which I would love to share through teaching.

About the lesson

Lessons will be well structured, catering to your level, needs, and improving weaknesses in your game. Lessons will include tactical practice, endgame puzzles, as well as any questions you have about openings. If there is an opening you would like to learn that I do not know, I will join you on that journey! I will take on students ranging from absolute beginner, all the way up to a 2000 CFC or 1800 FIDE level (about 2200 max chess.com blitz)
