  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Rubik's Cube is one of fastest growing skills all over the world. Among all the puzzles this holds a special place. It is very helpful to develop various skills in Math like probability, permutations and combinations. There are various algorithms which can help to develop your memory. It is a complex puzzle. The creator of the puzzle took months to come up with a solution in the beginning. But, it is really interesting to crack the techniques! In this subject I included various different types of WCA (World Cubing Association) puzzles and other puzzles like 3x3 Rubik's cube, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, 7x7, 2x2, Skweb, Pyraminx, Megaminx, Mastermorphix, Gear cube, Gear extreme cube, Mirror cube, Ghost cube and few other puzzles if demanded. I started Cubing in 2007. I was a kid and I had this hardcore determination to learn to solve it and I finally learnt it from my brother. For a year I used to do it a lot. Then there was a long gap of 4 years and I got back into cubing. Each and every solve is very satisfying! My progress gave me more and more enthusiasm to improve myself.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

Felix Zemdegs! He has been my inspiration for cubing since the beginning and still is! For teaching... there was a friend of mine who tried a lot to learn to solve the cube but he couldn't. Then one day I decided to help him out with that. I struggled for a week and finally I did it! He thanked me a lot. Many people asked me in the beginning to teach them cubing but I never did and I regret that. I used to say "A magician never reveals his secrets". And that was stupid and irrelevant. Then later after helping my friend out I realised how they felt when they couldn't do it and since then I never said no to anyone who asked.
  • How does your work help society?

Yes. There is a use to the society from cubing too. First thing, as mentioned, brain. The more you are into cubing, the smarter you get. Second, observation. The more frequent your solves are, the faster your observation gets. Third, memory. Various algorithms in cubing help to improve your memory. There's no direct effect on society as such, but in my point of view it's a really cool skill you can learn like dancing, singing etc., It is really impressive when you solve a cube in front of someone who knows the least about cubing.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

I don't really have a role model for cubing. I have seen various YouTubers and cubers who worked hard to get into the places where they are now. They are my inspiration! I just want to make people know how interesting cubing can be. In my life this part holds a really special place.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

I do a lot of things other than teaching. I am an MBBS student at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal. My hobbies included cubing, singing, dancing, stunts, Kung Fu, kickboxing, sketching, 3D drawing, CG sculpture, 3D modelling, animation, VFX, playing Guitar, computer gaming, painting, pen tattooing. If I find something interesting I'll just try my best to learn it.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

Yeah! I was in grade 7. I came to know about a small district level cubing competition which is to be held at my place. I asked my mother to take me there and she did. I didn't know much about the social aspects of cubing. But there were a lot of competitors! I was amazed seeing so much crowd! that too for cubing! And then I asked my mother if I can participate too and she said yes! Then I got my cube, did a few pre-match solves and got into the tournament. After about 2 or 3 hours of battle, I finally won the first place! The solve time was somewhere around 38.6 seconds (Now I can solve it in 14 seconds..lol). I was given 500 INR which was my first earning and I still kept it as my memory. Everyone was cheering! They were literally asking me for autographs! I felt so different that day. I loved the experience and wanted it more.
