About Ellie

I have experience in tutoring Shakespeare (Othello, The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, A Christmas Carol), An Inspector Calls, Great Expectations, Frankenstein, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and a wide variety of poetry. Please do get in touch if you are tackling other texts, as I am also familiar with many not listed here.

I'm severely dyslexic, so I know what it's like to sit in a classroom and feel as though the education system wasn't designed for the way your brain works. With the right support, I learned how to work with the system, tick the boxes, and succeed on my own terms. Now I want to help other students do the same.

I am DBS checked as an after-school mentor, teaching assistant, and SEN-support worker. I have experience working with students with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. I offer lessons in foundation level GCSE maths, English language and literature, creative writing, and general study and revision skills. I have just graduated with a first class degree from the University of Warwick, and I am beginning my Master's degree at the University of Oxford.

Alongside this, I know that not every challenge of student life is academic. I'm always happy to offer support and practical advice around overwhelm, stress, confidence, and self-esteem. Sometimes the biggest obstacle to learning isn't the subject itself, it's believing you can do it. Helping students overcome that is just as important to me as improving grades.

About the lesson

All of my lessons are entirely student-centric, everything is custom-made for you. Everything written here outlines my preferred way of tutoring, but it is all entirely negotiable so please get in touch to book your first free lesson and we can discuss details further.

In my experience, GCSEs have a way of draining the confidence out of young people, and surgically removing the fun from learning and knowledge. My primary objectives are: to help you hit whatever grades you need to hit, fill you with confidence, and have a laugh.
