About Mary
Mary Rose Cowden is a talented vocalist and multi-instrumentalist proficient in flute, piano, and saxophones (alto, tenor, and soprano). Her musical journey began at age four with piano, followed by saxophone at twelve, and singing and composing her music at sixteen. She graduated with high honors from The New School with a dual degree in jazz performance from The School of Jazz and Contemporary Music and Psychology from Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts. With six years of experience teaching private lessons, Mary specializes in children aged 4-14 while welcoming students of all ages and abilities. Her approach to teaching draws heavily from her studies in developmental psychology, emphasizing care, play, exploration, and autonomy.
