About Chris
Hey there! My name is Chris Barrett. I'm a former US Army soldier that lived in Germany for 12 years. I am married to a German woman and currently live in the United States.
In my time in German, I worked as an Inbound Manager for a logistics company. This job required that I manage 3 different departments of German speaking employees, as well as communicate with our English speaking client. My job relied heavily on translating German/English to both the clients and employees. As a manager, I had to take great care in providing clear and accurate translations, many times "on the go" or "live".
In my free time I enjoy performing stand-up comedy, which I started in Germany in both English and German.

I am a very adaptive tutor, so I will try my best to find out what works best for you. Some learn better with practical exercises or solid structural learning, where as others may want to explore more or have specific areas that need attention.
Some may want to try and lose some of that American accent in conversation and make themselves better understood. I can help by giving tools that I used over the 12 years working/living in Germany.
I would be a great tutor for someone who is just beginning to learn the language, someone who has taken a few years of German in school/college, or someone who has lost some of their German language knowledge and is looking to pick it back up again.
At home, my wife and I speak Denglish (a mix of German and English) jumping from English to German, keeping my German language skills fresh.
