About Kirsten
I am a professional and award-winning writer with more than forty years experience and. I won Best First Novel at the 2019 Ockham NZ Book Awards, and the landfall Essay Competition in 2008, two of NZ's top writing prizes. I have been a working journalist in print and television and teacher of journalism and creative writing.

I will hold blocks of classes, based around topics that will inspire and teach the basics of fiction, poetry and non-fiction writing - "show don't tell, and "who, what, where, when, why and how". I will set writing tasks and assignments and offer encouraging feedback. The goal will be to produce writing that can be published, and offer suggestions on where and how to get published.
Group classes will be held by Zoom, with up to 15 participants. This will enable good discussion and personal interaction. Writing exercises will be held during the classes and participants will be asked to share what they have written if they are comfortable with that. You will build up your confidence this way.
