About Fereshteh

I am an ESL teacher. English is my second language, so I know, more than any one, how tough and demanding the process of second language learning is. my first teaching experience goes back to the time I was only 19. I was a university student, and at the same time I had my own classes and worked full-time. teaching is my favorite activity. my parents are both teachers, so I think I know how to do my job. I have experienced mentoring and supervising language learners as well which brought me a great sense of pleasure. I have taught many students. It is hard to count, but they were mostly striving for developing their speaking and listening skills in order to succeed in exam or interview. some of my students reached their goals and got job promotion, or went abroad. I am still in touch with them. they make me feel incredibly great. I also had many mentoring and counseling experiences. I talked to hundred of students and evaluated their language levels and showed them the best way to nail it ! students have repeatedly said that I am their inspiration, but I believe they are my inspiration in life. I learn so many invaluable things from my students which are hard to put in words here.
if u and I have class together, I will guide you and show you the best way to develop your language skills and spot the probable problems and issues in your learning journey, as I, at first as a second language learner, then as an ESL teacher took the same steps, and can predict your probable language challenges and issues.
furthermore, in my classes you will notice a positive environment where you won't be afraid to make mistakes. I try to show you the probable challenges in your learning process and best solutions to figure them out

I am an Experienced English teacher and an enthusiast in learning. I have taught students from different levels, from beginners to advanced, and IELTS candidates.
As my classes are going to be held online, my teaching style is technology-based using relevant and interesting English websites, films and videos. Moreover, my classes are mostly student-centered giving students voice, choice, and autonomy to take control of their learning, and my role is facilitating learning process. my lessons are mostly for the ones who want to develop their general English, including listening, speaking, reading and writing. I have also worked with IELTS candidates, and the ones who aim at applying for job positions and need to be prepared for interview. besides,I teach general English for upper-intermediate and advanced levels.
for teaching grammar, I never present the rule at the first step. I do my best to provide the appropriate warm up and a relevant context , then I gradually take the rule from my students' sentences. thus, at the End, they will realized they are speaking and using the grammar without even knowing how to use it. it always worked awesome in my classes.
in order to develop my students'listening and speaking skills, I will provide them with my own interactive-based worksheets and handouts. besides, I will send them related podcasts, You tube videos, movies, news and any other absorbing materials that make them stick to the class and learning process. in the meantime, I will give them my corrective feedback and never leave them alone and confused. I will make sure they can ask any question any time they want.
for developing writing skill, I will expose them to published papers, and appropriate texts, because as long as they have difficulty in reading, they will not be a great writer.
for IELTS candidates, I have my special plan. we only work on valid IELTS sources, and I evaluate their knowledge and test-taking ability every session. IELTS students need more motivation, so I leave no stone unturned to make sure they have the best performance in their exams.
regarding those who aim at applying for job or study position and need to be prepared for interview session, I will give them the best and the most updated tricks and clues on how to answer the interview questions to absorb interviewees'attraction and get accepted.
all in all, I am so keen on interacting with my students and making them love English. In my opinion, teaching is a natural instinct, and teachers need to prioritize psychologist issues over instructional ones. it means that, as long as they don't have a good and in-depth understanding of their students'personality types, characters and intelligence, they will not be able to present the best teaching version of themselves.

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I’ve been studying English since I was 10 years old. My parents were so eager to send me to a language institute and see me speaking English fluently, so I have been surrounded by English for about 16 years. During all these years, I never got inspired and motivated by any teacher; I was the one who motivated myself to carry on with my studying and never give up. One of the reasons was that I was a film buff; I spent most of my free time watching and reviewing films and TV series, so I wanted to understand the language of the films and enjoy them more. The other reason was music. English songs were a tremendous inspiration to me. I was so curious to get their lyrics and know the meaning of the song.
  •  Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

Since I have continuously been a filmophile, I would like to select Marilyn Monroe as the foremost symbolic agent of American culture. I watched most of her motion pictures and appreciate her acting. Watching American and British movies and TV series, I learnt a lot about their culture and tradition.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

I am fascinated by Americans’ punctuality; they respect people’s time and planning and prioritize it over their own work. Besides, I believe it is admirable that people decide to live independently and overcome their issues and challenges alone from a certain time. That makes them seem more mature and trusted. Regarding language terms or phrases, I like it when they say “Never Trouble Trouble ’til Trouble Troubles You”; meaning that you shouldn’t make things more difficult for yourself than they need to be.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Speaking English matters to me, because I would like to extend my communication and career over other countries. I have always been attentive in meeting new people and making worldwide interaction. Knowing how to speak English fluently paves the way for me to have more job opportunities and make international communication.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

The most momentous difficulty of learning English was not having enough opportunities to speak with native English speakers directly. I learnt English in a non-English speaking country and found it demanding to make real conversation with people. English books, films, series, and songs assisted me in becoming a fluent English speaker. I turned this challenge into an opportunity for myself and started broadening my knowledge and information on how to assist those who live in non-English speaking countries and tend to learn English fluently. I came up with tons of mobile applications in which you can choose who to talk with according to your English level.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

Once I remember I was teaching a grammatical point to a group of naughty and disobedient teenagers. I was standing beside the whiteboard and, as soon as I turned my back to them to write, they started to play some childish pranks on me by making some weird noises.
I couldn’t notice the noise source and they pretended as if they had no idea where all those noises coming from. They kept teasing me for about 10 minutes, and finally, I got that I was being made fun of the whole time. I got a bit upset but didn’t bat an eyelid. From that time on, I decided to make more intimate relationships with my students, so that they feel more comfortable in my class and, don’t get bored to amuse themselves with such pranks.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Taking a trip assisted me in putting my English knowledge into practice; In other words, by traveling, I had the chance to have a number of first-hand experiences of talking with new people and getting acquainted with their culture and localities, it also made it possible for me to use my major and interest more practically.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

Self-motivation and ambition. I don’t want to stay in one place for a long time. I am always seeking to make progress and get promoted in my career. Due to this, I use the English language as a tool for taking me to higher positions and authority.
