About Gus

I am a 23 year Masters Student studying toward an MA in Legal and Political Theory at University College London.

At the moment I live in the Brighton and Hove area. Reading and writing have always played big roles in my life in terms of my emotional and professional development. My philosophy is that every student will have a different way of seeing the world and communicating that perspective to others. It's therefore important to me that students come away from our sessions with a sense of two things in particular:

(1) a sense of feeling secure in their own individual reading and writing abilities, whatever level the student may currently be at;

(2) a sense of awareness for the variety of techniques and styles they may engage with when either completing an examination or in reading and writing literature more generally

About the lesson

The typical duration of my lessons are 1 to 2 hours. My lessons are aimed at students studying toward their A Level in English Literature. My main method for teaching these subjects is communicating both reading and writing techniques for examinations and engaging in broader conversations related to social, historical and political contexts.

At A Level I achieved an A grade in English Literature.

What the student wants to get out of our time together and what I believe they need will inform the structure of the sessions and the content we tackle. The most important thing for me is to create an atmosphere of fun and exploration where the student can develop their own styles of reading, writing and speech. Whether its working through past papers or closely reading a text I'm open to suggestions from my students as to how they feel they will make the most of our time together!
