About Monsi

Hi! I’m Monsi, a native Spanish speaker from Valencia, Spain, currently living in the U.S. I hold a PhD from a Spanish university and have more than 10 years of experience as an educator. I love working with people from different backgrounds and helping them feel comfortable while learning.

Languages have always been part of my life: I’m native in Spanish and Valencian/Catalan, fluent in English, and I have also studied French and German. So I know firsthand that speaking another language can feel intimidating sometimes!

My goal is to create a relaxed and friendly space where you can practice real Spanish, ask questions, make mistakes, and enjoy the process. Whether you’re just starting, already speak Spanish and want to improve your confidence and fluency, or you’re preparing for a Spanish exam or test, I can help you work toward your goals and feel confident and prepared.

About the lesson

I think the best way to learn Spanish is by actually speaking it! My lessons are mostly based on real conversation, but we’ll also work on grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary whenever we need to.

I’m originally from Valencia, Spain, and I currently live in the U.S., so I know firsthand what it feels like to live your everyday life in a language that is not your own. I think that experience has also made me a more patient teacher.

A typical lesson starts simply by talking. We can talk about your week, travel, music, food, movies, Spanish culture… whatever interests you! From our conversation, I’ll help you correct mistakes, find more natural ways to express yourself, improve your pronunciation, and understand the grammar behind what you’re saying.

If you’re specifically interested in Spanish from Spain, I can also help you with Castilian pronunciation, vocabulary, expressions, and all those little things that you don’t always learn from a textbook. We can also talk about the differences between Spanish from Spain and Latin American Spanish.

I’m an educator with more than 10 years of teaching experience, although my professional background is mainly in music. I’m not interested in making our lessons feel like a boring grammar class. I want you to use Spanish, enjoy it, and become comfortable speaking it.

Beginners are absolutely welcome, as well as intermediate or advanced students who already know Spanish but need someone to practice with regularly.

And don’t worry about making mistakes with me. I make mistakes in English every day! That’s part of learning another language.
