About Barbara

Hi! My name is Bárbara, I’m a biochemist from Chile and a native Spanish speaker. I’ve always loved learning and sharing knowledge, and I enjoy helping others discover new skills. My background in science has taught me how to explain things clearly and step by step, which I find very useful in teaching and everyday life.

I’m also learning English myself, so I know how it feels to start a new language. This helps me be patient, understanding, and supportive with anyone learning something new. I’m curious, friendly, and always excited to grow and explore new things.

About the lesson

I teach Spanish as a foreign language to adults and beginners who want to communicate with confidence in real-life situations. As a native Spanish speaker from Chile, I help students develop practical language skills for travel, work, or personal interest. I am a biochemist by training, and this background strongly shapes my teaching methodology. I am used to explaining complex ideas in a clear, logical, and organized way. In my Spanish lessons, I break down grammar and vocabulary step by step, making learning more accessible and less overwhelming. Each lesson is personalized to the student’s level, pace, and goals, with a strong focus on conversation, pronunciation, listening skills, and everyday vocabulary. What truly sets me apart is that I am also learning English, so I understand firsthand what it feels like to learn a new language as an adult. I know the challenges, frustrations, and insecurities that can come with speaking a new language, and this allows me to be more patient, empathetic, and supportive with my students. I create a relaxed and friendly learning environment where making mistakes is part of the learning process. In addition, I include cultural elements from Latin America, especially Chile, to help students understand how Spanish is used in real-life contexts. I can also teach common phrases and expressions used in Chile that may sound unusual or even strange to other Spanish speakers. These expressions often reflect Chilean culture and humor, and many of them are funny, unique, and memorable. Learning them not only helps students understand different accents and styles of Spanish, but also makes the learning experience more enjoyable and distinctive.
