About Alisa
I began teaching piano at age 12 and have spent more than 35 years refining an approach that respects each student’s personality, goals, and way of learning.
My students are not expected to follow one rigid path. I offer clear choices, help them understand the purpose behind each skill, and teach them to take ownership of the direction and intensity of their learning. A concept that does not connect through one piece often becomes meaningful through another—and I know how to recognize and use those moments.
Lessons may include technique, reading, theory, ear training, interpretation, improvisation, and performance preparation, depending on the student’s interests. I teach children and adults, from complete beginners to experienced musicians, with patience, humor, structure, and encouragement.
My goal is not simply to help students play assigned music. It is to help them become confident, curious, independent musicians.

Every lesson begins with the student in front of me—not a predetermined sequence or one-size-fits-all method. Together, we identify what the student wants to play and what skills will help them get there.
I give students choices while providing the structure and expertise needed for real progress. We may work on note reading, rhythm, technique, expression, theory, chords, improvisation, practice strategies, or performance preparation. Students learn not only what to do, but why it works and how to recognize the same musical idea elsewhere.
Lessons are encouraging and focused without being rigid. Students are welcome to pursue classical repertoire, contemporary music, personal favorites, or a combination. Online and in-person lessons are available.
