About Elizabeth
Hello!
My name is Elizabeth and I am a student at the Basel Music Academy. I'm from the United States (Rochester, NY) and I would love to help you with your English. I have in-depth knowledge of English philology and linguistics; I am particularly interested in historical language change and etymology, as well as phonology and regional accents. (I am also happy to teach conventions of British English.) I will be happy to tailor the lessons to your individual needs and interests.

I strive to create a balanced combination of technical exercises and free conversation so that solid grammatical knowledge and practical communication skills are developed simultaneously.
I use a variety of texts for exercises in reading comprehension and pronunciation: everything from literature to newspaper articles. For accent reduction, we examine particular phonological features of the English language and we use the so-called Harvard Sentences as samples.
I am ready to teach via Zoom or Skype - in these Corona times one has to get used to online learning and home office!
