About Johannes
I am originally from Germany, have a BA in Economics from the University of Oxford and have basically taught myself how to code. That's in part why I think I'm relatively well suited to teaching coding to beginners - having entirely taught myself when I first started (a long time ago), I am still very aware of all the difficulties and pitfalls that lie along the way and know how to overcome them practically.
Despite not having a Computer Science, but an Economics degree instead, I have worked as a professional programmer - full-time and freelance - and have started to teach in my free time about 1.5 years ago, mostly because I enjoy it.

I teach exclusively 1on1, which means that during each session I am able to focus on exactly what is most important and relevant for the student at that time.
In terms of general methodology my approach has been to focus on the fundamentals of coding first and then move relatively quickly to hands-on projects. In my experience these are the two ingredients that will over time lead to actual success in coding - a solid grasp of the fundamentals and hands-on experience.
