About Amy
If you are looking for a helping hand—whether it’s an essay, a research paper, or even a smaller project, I’m the tutor for YOU! I’m genuinely excited to support students by reviewing their work and offering thoughtful, honest feedback (often with a dash of humor). I taught middle school Language Arts for 15 years and have spent the past 17 years as a high school librarian, where I regularly assist students with everything from college essays to research projects for AP, Honors, IB, and dual-enrollment courses. Tutoring allows me to share my experience with students who may not have a trusted adult to guide them, or who are simply looking for a fresh perspective beyond their usual circle. I truly enjoy working with students, and this role allows me to reach beyond the walls of my own school family. I’m a sincere, enthusiastic educator with a good sense of humor and a healthy touch of sarcasm. More than anything, I take pride in being a supportive, reliable mentor to the students I work with on a daily basis. I’m excited to work with you!

As a tutor, I believe I need to understand the need of the student before beginning. I will work hard to understand the assignment and build an approach accordingly.
A typical lesson plan will be full-circle: need, discussion, lesson, discussion, need, conclusion. My lessons aim to ensure that students leave with a better knowledge of the skill while still aiming to continue to build expertise in it in later lessons. Ultimately, mastery is the goal.
I am comfortable with working with students in grades 4 - 12 as I feel I'm best qualified to be the most help with these levels.
