About Dominique

I am an certified coding and billing specialist (CPC/CPB) with nearly a decade of hands-on experience in medical coding, billing, and revenue cycle work. I currently serve as Principal of a healthcare consulting firm that supports family medicine, specialty, hospitals, urgent care/ER, DME, and surgical practices across the U.S., so everything I teach is grounded in real charts, real payers, and real audits.

Students describe me as fun-loving, patient, encouraging, and organized. I show up prepared, on time, and focused on your goals - whether that’s passing an exam, catching up, or feeling more confident in a new coding or billing job. I specialize in working with adult learners and career changers, and I take pride in creating a supportive, judgment-free space where it’s completely okay to say, “I don’t get this yet” and then we figure it out together. :)

About the lesson

My lessons are relaxed, energetic, structured, and very “real-world.” We usually start by identifying your music vibe and immediate goal(s), then walk through live examples together using your books, homework, or mock cases. I break guidelines into simple steps, "think out loud" while coding/billing, and then have you talk through your own reasoning so you’re not just memorizing answers but actually understanding the why.

Lessons are fully tailored to your goals, whether you’re brand new to medical billing/coding, returning to work after a break, or preparing for certification exams. In our sessions, we can focus on:

Insurance billing workflows

Medical documentation review and how to read like a coder

ICD-10-CM coding

ICD-10-PCS coding

CPT and HCPCS Level II coding

Modifiers, NCCI edits, bundling/unbundling, and medical necessity (NCD/LCD concepts)

Claim submission, denial prevention, and basic appeals strategies

Medical billing procedures, A/R follow-up, and revenue cycle basics

Medical terminology and anatomy as they relate to coding

I teach using real-world style examples, plain language, and step-by-step breakdowns so you not only get it, but also understand why it’s correct. Lessons are ideal for self-learners, students in coding/billing programs, career changers, and working professionals who want extra support or a confidence boost.
