About Isla
I am a keen violin tutor with 2 years of experience teaching students new to the instrument. I have successfully guided around 88 students, helping them build a solid first foundation in violin technique and musical understanding. My teaching philosophy is centered on warmth, simplicity, and encouragement, ensuring every student learns at a pace that feels comfortable and achievable. I explain each concept clearly so students understand not just what to do but why it matters. My aim is to help every student build confidence and enjoy their earliest steps into violin playing.

My teaching method for Violin, Music Theory, and Ear Training focuses on giving beginners a clear, warm introduction to the instrument, even in the earlier stages of my tutoring path.
Warmth guides how I teach, since I want beginners to feel comfortable making mistakes as a normal part of learning to play violin.
Simplicity guides how I teach as well, since I break every technique into small, manageable steps so beginners never feel overwhelmed by bow control or finger placement.
Encouragement stays present throughout every session, since early confidence plays a big role in how much a beginner enjoys learning the violin.
Lessons begin with posture, bow hold, and basic finger positioning, followed by simple scales and easy melodies to build muscle memory, along with early music theory basics.
As students grow more comfortable, I introduce slightly more challenging pieces and begin light ear training to build their sense of pitch.
I adjust my teaching to match each student's personal goals, whether learning for fun or building a foundation for future advanced study. My aim is a warm, simple space for every beginner violinist.
