About Randy

Hello! I’m Randy, an award-winning ESL educator, physician and native English speaker from the US, currently having a blast volunteering as an orthopedic surgeon in the vibrant city of Ibague, Colombia.

I've had a pretty wild career path - I've served as a U.S. Army Officer, earned my MD, and have even flown helicopters. But my absolute favorite adventure is right here in the virtual classroom. I hold an MA in English Literature, and as someone who learned to speak Spanish, I know exactly how funny, frustrating, and rewarding learning a new language can be.

My classes are highly engaging. I actually build custom interactive web apps and quizzes for my students to make mastering vocabulary and grammar feel like play rather than work. Plus, I type at over 110 words per minute, so your chat box will always be packed with instant corrections and helpful notes!

When I’m not teaching and helping folks crush a 265+ on the Step 2 or land the career of their dreams with an IELTS/TOEFL/OET score that would be the envy of a native speaker, you can usually find me cooking up an American-style cheeseburger, exploring local Andean ingredients, playing Nintendo Switch, or catching up on old Baltimore police procedurals. I can't wait to hear about your interests; let's make learning English the best part of your week!

About the lesson

Let's be honest: your time is valuable, and learning a language shouldn't feel like a grind. Whether you need to master the sophisticated language of a boardroom or clinical setting, or you just want a space to make mistakes, laugh, and improve your conversational fluency, I've got you covered.

When you book a class, we skip the boring textbook introductions and dive right into what actually matters to you.

During our first session, we will:

Identify Your Roadblocks: We'll figure out exactly what is holding you back, from tricky grammar rules to presentation jitters.

Build Your Strategy: We'll create a clear plan for your specific journey, be it residency interviews, professional negotiations, or simply sounding more like a native speaker.

Dive Right In: We'll jump straight into some interactive practice so you can instantly see how dynamic and helpful my real-time feedback is!

Let’s make this the most productive and enjoyable hour of your week. Book a class today, and let's get to work!

Randy is amazing. I am an IMG from China and I was struggling with my Step 2. After working with him, I got a 265 and then we worked on my ERAS application. So far, I've received four interview requests. Thank you so much!
