About Nathaniel

I'm currently studying Jazz at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and have been playing since I was 4.
I have lots of experience working with children both in and out of music, and I'm DBS checked.
I completed grades 1-8 in classical trombone, before switching to jazz, which I find more meaningful. I'm 19 years old, and also play the piano, and I love passing on my own enthusiasm with music to others, just as my teachers did for me.
While I have fewer qualifications in trumpet, I've maintained it throughout the years and am confident enough to teach.
I would love to help you appreciate, thrive and flourish with music in the way I have learnt to.

About the lesson

I offer bespoke music lessons to help you with whatever you wish to improve on musically. I can offer help with graded exams, music theory, technique, help with individual pieces, or general improvement across all features of trumpet or trombone.
I have taught a variety of ages and skill levels for 3 years, and am open to teaching anyone.
My priority when teaching is generally to help you connect with the music and play things you love first, and then train specific skills in order to help you attain a higher level in those things.
My lessons are either 30 min or 1h depending on your preference, and I am willing to travel to teach you.

Nathaniel's been a close friend of mine for a good while. He is a bright, brilliant and curious personality for as long as I've known him. Musically speaking, he has been an essential influence on me, I wouldn't have discovered the beauty of Jazz without the artists he looks up to the most, names such as Shaun Martin or Jesus Molina in particular. He has always helped me effectively when I've been stuck learning my instruments, always broken down things in ways which a version of me before I even knew what music was could understand.

An excellent teacher and one that inspires in both his ability and through his encouragement.

I met Nathaniel in the first year of college and initially jammed with him for fun in any free time we had available in both of our timetables, including but not limited to lunchtimes and break times. Throughout these jam sessions, I really came to learn a thing or two from Nathaniel, not just in jamming/improv but confidence in scales, harmonics and basic chord theory. His personality is unique and enjoyable to be around which makes learning from him feel more friendly and progressive rather than strict and frustrating. I’d seriously recommend learning with/from Nathaniel if you’re looking to improve quickly from someone who truly cares about helping you improve and not just selling out. 5/5
