About Michael
Affordable individual and group tuition for anyone from absolute beginners to degree-level students. (Ask about discounted rates for groups and households on benefits!)
The most challenging part of any IT degree course for new students is learning to write code; it is a skill required for almost every aspect of your degree. Ensuring you have programming skills before you start will give you a great leg-up on the other students. Even in the current economy, there are still many opportunities for skilled programmers.
Michael Gale:
• Has been programming for over 15 years
• Has tutored students of all ages, from secondary school students to BSc and MSc students.
• Makes complex topics easy to understand, with clear and patient explanations.
• Knows many programming languages and technologies, including:
◦ Java: Used in creating Android apps and the language of choice for most UK universities
◦ C: Used in systems programming, and taught in the second year of most Computer Science degrees
◦ C++: Used heavily in the games industry
◦ Perl: Multi-purpose language used especially by web-developers and system administrators.
◦ Python: A good language for beginners, but also used in industry, including many Google systems.
◦ Groovy: A scripting language based on Java
◦ VisualBasic.NET: Taught as part of many A-Level, vocational and other Further Education courses.
◦ HTML, CSS: The languages in which web pages are written
◦JavaScript: Used to add interactive elements to web pages
