About Theo
I am a Biology tutor with a background in Human Molecular Genetics, having completed my MSc at Imperial College London and my BSc in Biological Sciences (Genetics and Molecular Biology). Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have always enjoyed exploring how the natural world works and, more importantly, helping others develop the same curiosity and understanding.
My passion for teaching began through tutoring Biology students during my undergraduate studies, where I found great satisfaction in helping students overcome challenges and gain confidence in their abilities. I enjoy taking complex scientific ideas and transforming them into clear, engaging explanations that allow students to see the connections within Biology.
I want to teach because I believe that understanding science can be empowering. Seeing a student have that moment where a difficult concept finally makes sense is incredibly rewarding, and I aim to create a learning environment where students feel supported, motivated, and excited to improve.

My teaching approach focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing their confidence. I believe students perform best when they understand the underlying principles of Biology rather than simply memorising information, so I first work with them to build a strong foundation and develop a clear understanding of the core concepts.
Once a student understands a topic, I encourage them to explain it back to me in their own words. This allows me to identify any gaps in understanding while helping the student develop confidence, independence, and the ability to apply their knowledge. After establishing this foundation, I introduce targeted questions and exam-style practice to strengthen their skills and prepare them effectively for assessments.
My aim is to make Biology exciting and accessible by helping students see the logic and wonder behind the subject, while providing the guidance and support they need to achieve their goals both in exams and beyond.
