About Chris

Hello, my name is Chris and I hold Qualified Teacher Status with a Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education. I have experience teaching in both the UK and abroad in many different contexts and to students of many varying abilities. My experience means I can adapt and differentiate where necessary to help all History and/or Politics students at both GCSE and A-Level (and international equivalents).

My intention is to provide a dedicated and focused space for individuals to receive quality one-to-one sessions in History and/or Politics. As well as this, I hope to give pupils the tools, methods, and self-confidence for their own independent self study. Furthermore, I hope to create a friendly and open space where students feel comfortable, assured, and confident in themselves during our sessions.

As somebody who has benefitted from tutoring myself as a child, I know first-hand the difference a quality tutor can have on one's confidence, grades, and overall understanding of a topic or subject.

About the lesson

I specialise particularly in helping students with exam technique for questions at GCSE and A-Level History and in Politics, so my lessons are suitable for students between 15-18 years old. However, I am also open to tutoring pupils at KS3. I am familiar with the specifications and requirements for the major exam boards (Edexcel, AQA, Cambridge, etc.)

My methods include studying examiner reports and syllabuses with students; preparing and marking exam-style questions with quick feedback; and, providing quality self-study materials to pupils and providing feedback. Lessons typically last at least 60 minutes.

I have created resources for GCSE and A-Level in both subjects listed (as well as IGCSE and International A-Level.) I have a strong knowledge and understanding of the content for these exam boards' syllabuses/specifications as well as exam technique.
