Catherine is a respected tutor in our community. She is highly recommended for her commitment and the quality of her lessons. An excellent choice to progress with confidence.
About Catherine
Apart from teaching, I have been tutoring for approximately 15 years and I find it very fulfilling.
Tuition provides the opportunity to meet a wide range of young people and, focusing on their particular goals, to develop specific strategies and learning plans to suit different types of learners. Moreover, it has allowed me to study a great range of topics, courses and eras, national and global.
I teach AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, Cambridge and IB - national and international courses.
Currently, I am an examiner for IB Diploma and have previously examined for AQA and OCR.
I am experienced in inclusive education and teaching students with ESL, SEN and Dyslexia.
I am based in Germany, where I have taught in accredited International Schools for several years.

I have developed a specialist approach in one-to-one remote learning for students worldwide, during years of teaching in England (West Yorkshire and Kent) and internationally (South America, Japan, Bangladesh and Germany). I have completed school-led training in inclusive education and am experienced in teaching students with ESL and SEN.
The first session is free and is an opportunity to find out more about the type of tuition, the course and the resources that are available. It provides an ‘ice breaker’ so that tuition can be an enjoyable as well as an effective experience. We can also use this time to talk directly, parent/tutee to tutor and you will receive a copy of the presentation for the course you are pursuing.
The focus of the tuition will be based on your requirements - e.g. knowledge, application and writing skills, with particular focus on ESL. Emphasis can be assigned to sourcework, essays, investigative writing (e.g. NEA, IA and EE) or to specific papers. A schedule will be created, which will form the basis of the course of the tuition.
I use Microsoft Teams and OneNote, for the interactive approach. On Google Drive there will be a shared folder where I will put all resources provided for each session. You will have a link so that you can go back to these resources at any time after the session, until you complete tuition.

Catherine is an excellent tutor; she definitely knows her stuff and has been of enormous help in assisting me with my IB History exam by significantly enhancing my knowledge, improving my exam technique and restoring my enthusiasm in History as a subject. I am incredibly grateful for all her help and felt confident coming out of the exam. I got almost 100% in Paper 2 and a grade 7 overall in History. Needless to say I was delighted! Exactly what I needed; highly recommended.
I first met Catherine in 2015 when we were both teaching at an international school in Weimar, Germany. She was an incredibly knowledgable and professional middle school and IB teacher with an excellent capacity for differentiated instruction and creative, supportive methods for delivering a challenging curriculum to students of all ages and abilities. This was especially important to me in my capacity of Learning Resources Teacher. We have been friends ever since.
Catherine and I worked together in an international school where she was dedicated, motivational and inspirational. She always goes the extra mile for her private students. More so than she did in the classroom even, tailoring her lessons to their specific needs while also ensuring she covers the curriculum content they need for exam success.
I cannot recommend her highly enough.Catherine and I have been close friends since we were young and know her to be very committed to and enthusiastic about teaching and tutoring History. She has made a great difference to the success of her tutees, often opening up opportunities to continue studying, they did not expect to have. I can recommend her as a reliable and knowledgeable person without a doubt.
Catherine is a very experienced and passionate teacher who really cares about the students she works with. She works hard to meet her students' needs, and as a result, her students succeed. I would recommend Catherine as an excellent history teacher.
