About Geoffrey

Dr. Geoff’s qualifications include a Master of Education (TESOL) with distinction, Graduate Certificate (TESOL) and CELTA. He also holds a degree in Dental Surgery. Geoff has considerable experience teaching academic English programs and preparation for entrance into Australian, British and US universities; he has taught EAP and ESL students in both Australia and Asia. Furthermore, he has experience as a certified IELTS examiner and teaches IELTS preparation from elementary to advanced levels. Geoff has a particular interest in EAP curriculum development and is active in developing new courses for academic writing, preparation for overseas study and IELTS grammar. His students give consistently positive feedback in both academic and personal terms. Geoff’s communicative and personable approach engages students and motivates them to become proactive in their own learning process. References • New Cambridge Institute, Bangkok “During his time here, Geoff was involved in IELTS examination preparation with a variety of classes ranging in level from elementary to advanced. He was also active in a number of materials development projects, including the creation of a number of new courses: namely Academic Writing, Preparation for Overseas and Graduate Studies and Essential Grammar for IELTS, all of which have become popular with students over the years. His students have given consistently positive feedback in both academic and personal terms. The students enjoy his classes very much, largely due to his high degree of professionalism, but also because of his ability to engage and motivate students who are perhaps not so proactive in their own learning process.” • RMIT English Worldwide, Bangkok Campus “During this time, Geoff taught Academic English for entrance into Australian Universities, IELTS preparation courses, Business English and General English courses. He was our lead teacher and conducted the higher-level courses. He was professional in his approach at all times and his interaction skills with students and staff were excellent. He was extremely well liked by the students and showed a caring approach to them at all times.” • St Leo International College, Melbourne “I have found Geoff to be resourceful and creative and his knowledge of the Thai language and cultural needs of Thai people to be invaluable in his teaching efforts at St Leo. Geoff’s teaching ability and caring personality would make him a valuable and professional acquisition to any educational institution.” • International College for Sustainability Studies, Srinakharinwirot University, Bangkok “I was initially impressed with Geoff Lynch’s enthusiasm, communication skills and professional demeanor when I started to work with him at the International College. His ability to construct a course appropriate to students’ needs and abilities is unparalleled, and it is because of his excellence in this area that I repeatedly asked him for guidance in curriculum formation. I regularly heard praise from students, teachers and administrators commending Geoff’s outstanding performance in the classroom and availability to tutor students outside of class.” • Language Centre, La Trobe University, Melbourne “The students found Geoff to be positive, patient, friendly and very clear in his explanations. This was demonstrated in their attendance and feedback sessions with the ILC Coordinator.”

About the lesson

I offer classes for academic writing/skills and IELTS preparation. Depending on their needs, students will learn how to:
• use the grammar necessary for academic and IELTS writing.
• communicate knowledge, understanding and critical analysis in sentences, paragraphs and academic essays.
• write Tasks 1 and 2 in the IELTS test.
• improve their language skills for the three parts of the IELTS speaking test.

I strongly believe in active learning, and my lessons are always student centred. My aim is to empower students helping them to attain their academic goals and required IELTS score. Our free introductory meeting will look at your learning needs. I can then structure a plan and materials to help you achieve a successful outcome.
