About Lara-Rose
Hello! My name is Lara and I'm a highly experienced and friendly GCSE maths tutor. I graduated from the University of Sussex with a first-class physics degree and am currently studying for a Master's degree in Data Science in Bristol!
I have logged over 450 hours of GCSE maths tutoring on MyTutor and have over 110 5-star reviews! I truly love to tutor maths, and helping my wonderful students reach their potential brings me happiness! I promise that I can make maths accessible to you and you'll surprise yourself! Let me show you!
As someone who overcame their own maths challenges at school, I really do understand that it can be a scary or tricky subject for many people, but whether you're working towards passing your GCSE maths or you're aiming for the top marks, I can assure you that we will work together to build your confidence, knowledge and exam technique. I focus my tutoring solely on GCSE maths so I have extensive knowledge of the curriculum (foundation and higher), grade boundaries, and the differences between the many exam boards.

In general, my sessions usually start by covering the key concepts of the topic at hand. I'll walk you through a worked example where you can watch me solve the problem on the whiteboard. This will familiarise you with the step-by-step method for solving the problem. As you grow in confidence you'll start to work through practice questions more and more independently. The environment of my sessions is very friendly and I encourage my students to ask lots of questions throughout. I don't think there are any 'silly' questions at all. I'll encourage you to note down important bite-sized information for you to refer back to so after a few weeks you'll have a huge bank of helpful revision cards to look back at!
Practicing past paper exam questions is very important and we will cover these at the end of each topic. Students need to be familiar with the language of the questions, what is expected in the workings out to gain method marks and final answer marks.
If you are looking to set up long-term GCSE maths support, then like for my other students we can work through the entire curriculum picking up on any issues or knowledge that might have been missed at school.
