About Max
My name is Max Ni, and I am a university Health Sciences student at Queens University. Having successfully navigated the competitive path into a top-tier health sciences program, I know firsthand what it takes to excel in high school sciences. I bring that exact roadmap, academic discipline, and enthusiasm to every single tutoring session.
Why you can feel confident with me
• The IB Advantage: I am a proud graduate of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Having mastered the rigorous pacing, internal assessments (IAs), and exam structures of IB Chemistry, I know exactly how to teach high-level critical thinking and conceptual problem-solving.
• Proven Academic Excellence: In addition to my IB background, I went through the highly rigorous Alberta curriculum (Chemistry 20/30), ending Chemistry 30 with a 99. Because I have conquered these intense standardized programs, I know how to make Ontario’s curriculum feel completely manageable.
• The Health Sci Edge: As someone currently studying Health Sciences, my daily academic life revolves around advanced chemistry and biology. I don't just teach the material for your next test; I show you how these concepts connect to future university pathways, medicine, and research.
• A Professional, Structured Approach: I treat tutoring as a professional partnership. I am exceptionally organized, always arrive prepared with customized lesson goals, and utilize a premium interactive digital whiteboard setup to make online learning seamless and engaging.
My commitment to YOU:
Chemistry can feel like learning a completely foreign language, but you don't have to figure it out alone. My goal is to transform your frustration into confidence. Whether you are tackling standard Ontario/Alberta courses, preparing for IB Chemistry Exams, or aiming for a 90%+ average to get into your dream university program, I am here to support you every step of the way.

Who the Lessons Are For:
These online sessions are designed specifically for high school students tackling senior-level chemistry. I specialize in both the Ontario curriculum (SCH3U / SCH4U) and the Alberta curriculum (Chemistry 20 / 30). Whether you are trying to pull up a struggling grade or aiming for a 90%+ average to get into a competitive university STEM or health program, these lessons are tailored to your goals.
My Teaching Methodology & Techniques
Chemistry cannot be memorized—it must be visualized. My approach relies heavily on an interactive digital whiteboard paired with a stylus. This allows me to draw molecular structures, track reaction mechanisms, and write out complex math equations live on your screen, mimicking a real-life classroom chalkboard. I focus on first-principles logic rather than pure memorization, helping you understand how to approach problems so you can tackle any surprise test question.
A Typical 60-Minute Lesson Plan
Review & Warm-up: We address immediate school homework roadblocks or review the trickiest concept from our last session.
Concept Breakdown: We introduce the new topic visually on the digital whiteboard, solving the first few problems step-by-step together.
Guided & Independent Practice: You take the lead to solve a mock exam question on screen, while I give real-time feedback on your formatting and logic.
Cool-Down & Strategy: We summarize the key takeaways of the lesson and map out exactly what to look out for in your upcoming school lectures.
