I try to bridge the gap between an online session and an offline session as much as possible. I teach students of every age. As a practitioner of music for more than 10 years, I aim to impart quality knowledge to my students as I am an avid student of music who studies music with the same seriousness as one would pursue academics. That being the reason, everyone will be taught according to the Trinity College London graded course (irrespective of whether a student wants to take the exams) which is a widely acclaimed modern approach to learning western music.
Every student will be taught stave notation and music theory with utmost care. After every lesson, I will send out music/theory sheets, relevant screenshots or videos prepared by me to aid the practice of the student for the following week. Listening skills will be also emphasized upon, such as identifying the pitch or the genre of songs. Creativity shall be encouraged too in the form of homework where I'll ask students to write small music pieces and perform them so that their knowledge could be tested from time to time.
More importantly, I want to impart western musical knowledge in tandem with modern music teaching practices, while also incorporating knowledge of Indian music.
You can reach me via my contact no. (and WhatsApp) or via an e-mail! A great amount of work goes into making the class material and then customising them according to the individual needs of the students.

My slots presently: Mon-Thurs, 10-2 PM IST, 7-9 PM IST. Classes are of 45 minutes each. I do not provide any unpaid demo classes. All classes have to be paid for in advance.
My Friday, Saturday and Sunday slots are currently occupied.

As a student moves up the levels, the fees will tend to get higher, which is only normal. What is mentioned in this advert is the starting fee per class for a beginner. In case a student does not take exams, their fees will be revised every two years.
The fees will also vary for students in India or overseas, as the Indian cost per class is only a negligible fraction of what it is abroad, where the average fee per class of a duration of 30 minutes to an hour can be anywhere between 50-200 US Dollars.
All classes have to be paid for in advance.

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

From a young age, I have tried out a lot of things- Karate, Painting, Music, Recitation and other things and they have all stayed with me. But Music has always been my go-to place 😊
I have been exposed to music from childhood as my family is greatly musical too! So, I started learning Hindustani Classical Vocal music from when I was just 8 or 9 years old. During that time, the school where I studied had an "instrument period", where we would be able to play different instruments of our choice. I took up electronic keyboard and since then, I have not stopped being in love with Music! It's an absolute bliss!
So, I both sing as well as play and I have been classically trained in both the fields for over 9 years now. I play professionally and take part in music contests. I also am active in writing background scores of video projects or working on musical albums as a singer and a keyboardist.
I often compose short pieces or make up tunes and music to me is quite fun. Music can open up the door for exploring endless possibilities!
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

I aim to teach music not only to impart music but, teaching in itself is a rewarding experience when one sees that their students are developing interest towards the subject and are enjoying what they play/sing. As a teacher, if I find that a student is facing some problem, I try to come up with other ways of coping with the problem and that process in itself is very exciting and you learn so much when you teach! I do whatever most can be done so that the gap between online sessions and offline sessions can be filled at least to some extent.
  • How does your work help society?

I wanted others to experience the fun and joy music learning gives. As all of us might know, Music also acts as a therapy.
It can pull one out of distress, can lift up someone's mood. So music as a hobby is great too.
Though I have been engaged in the study of music quite seriously, I aim to impart musical knowledge in a way that doesn't scare away people from the technical side of music! (giggles)
With the fund I will be slowly gathering by teaching, I want to give free music courses to children in remote areas. This has been always a dream to me as a student of Humanities and Music. It's like connecting two of my much loved arenas together.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

I don't have a role model as such. My role model is perhaps any such person who brings joy to people's lives and nurtures them, someone who has something to give to the world. :)
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

While I am deeply involved in musical study, other areas of my interest include watching and criticising Films and Literature. I am also a weebie (someone who watches a lot of web-series). I also like History a lot, which makes me watch various films and web-series to be able to connect with the past and I also take interest in connecting Art with life.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

I was in the 4th grade then, and I didn't like my instrument classes because at that time, I didn't have one electronic keyboard at my home which resulted in lack of practice. But my teacher always said that I could do well and he constantly tried to persuade my parents to get me a keyboard. Finally, one day, my father surprised me by getting me a keyboard. I was overwhelmed, of course!
But then, I was still not sure if I would be able to play something as I didn't have any experience of playing a Keyboard, specially by using both the hands. And the thought that I won't be able to play anything in my instrument class haunted me always. So, with a lot of confusion in my mind, I started practising the lesson that was given to me for practice. By one week, surprisingly, I was fluent enough and felt a lot of confidence.
Then, came one day the instrument class!
I went to the class and my teacher specifically asked me to play something and, to everyone's surprise, I could play that lesson with accuracy! And, everyone applauded me. My teacher also gave me a pen as an acknowledgement of my work, which I still have, and I cherish. Then, with time, I went on to becoming the lead keyboardist of the school orchestra and along with that, both my teacher and I started taking Trinity College London grade exams. So, he would learn the syllabus of one grade and then he would teach the same to me. So, in this way, we both- the teacher and the student would take our exams at the same time and we would both help out each other if we faced a problem 😊
This bond has strengthened over the 9 years and this is so rewarding! He is almost a family now and we still help out each other as now, we are both taking the Piano exams together. That's why teaching and as well as being a student of Music is a great experience and I look forward to being connected with music for the rest of my life! 😊
