About Annie
I recently graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics, and I took a few math and computer science classes as well. I moved to New York City this past summer and started a job in the Executive Search industry. I love being around kids, and I have always loved math, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity for after work or over the weekends! I think math is such an important subject--not necessarily because you will always use every skill or equation in everyday life, but because it teaches you how to think logically, which can help you approach problems or tasks of life with a different perspective.
Some more things about me. I grew up in Connecticut and have an older brother who also lives in New York City. I love the outdoors, and grew up hiking, skiing, kayaking, etc. At Dartmouth, I was involved in Club Volleyball and Model UN, among other clubs, and also enjoyed painting in my free time!
I think I'm a very joyful and friendly person who can get along with anyone and am in no way intimidating to others.

I think it's important to have students solve problems on their own, and even when receiving help (from a tutor, teacher, friend, parent, etc.), still feel like they have ownership over their work and that they played an important role in getting to the answer. Confidence is key when learning! My teaching involves asking questions and guiding the student through the problem as much as possible rather than always giving the answer and having them work backward. While sometimes it's helpful to write out a problem and solution, I think this can often result in the student never really learning the subject and instead just memorizing solutions.
