About Deirdre

Bonjour! My name is Deirdre, and I am a fully qualified and Teaching Council-registered post-primary teacher with a Master’s/PME qualification.

I offer friendly and supportive French tutoring for secondary-school students, with lessons tailored to each student’s individual needs and ability. I understand that learning a language can sometimes feel challenging, so I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence in French.

I can provide support with Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate French, including grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening comprehension, written work, oral French and exam preparation.

My lessons are structured around the individual student, whether they need help understanding the basics, extra support with schoolwork, preparation for an upcoming exam, or simply want to become more confident in French.

Above all, I want students to leave each lesson feeling more confident, more capable and clearer about what they need to do to progress.

About the lesson

I offer one-to-one French tutoring tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. My lessons are friendly, supportive and focused on building confidence, whether a student needs help catching up, improving their grades or preparing for exams.

I cover all key areas of French, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. For Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate students, lessons can also focus specifically on exam preparation, written work, comprehension and oral French. I adapt each session based on the areas the student finds most challenging.

Lessons typically last one hour and include a mixture of explanation, guided practice and activities that allow the student to put what they have learned into practice.

I am a fully qualified and Teaching Council-registered post-primary teacher with a Master’s/PME qualification and experience working with secondary-school students.

My tutoring is suitable for secondary-school students at all levels, particularly Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate students, from those who need extra support with French to students who want to strengthen their skills and work towards a higher grade.
